Rehab Services Assessment Review
Slight bump on supplemental keep eye on the ball with this one. Tighten up on the establishment of goals and progress assessment. Complimented the PT staff on their quarterly chart review process. Commented that Joint Commission looks down on Blood Pressure machines, weight scales, etc. in open public areas (violates privacy issues). Liked that all PT staff have been through Basic Life Safety Training. Questions Asked when the defibrillator was out of the department for service, etc. what procedure did they follow in case of emergency? Asked if an EXIT sign should be placed over the PT door. Asked if the department only worked Monday-Friday how did they provide therapy services for patients on weekends? During chart reviews, he continuously asked if the needs and goals assessment was properly tracked and achieved and was this properly documented. Was really concerned with the fact that the chart should reflect the progress of the patient the entire time of treatment. Asked if during treatment the therapist noticed another problem that needed addressing what procedure did they follow to let someone know about this and how it should be addressed? (did they handle the problem through the patients physician or take it upon themselves to fix?) Asked if patients rights/responsibilities were properly addressed with each patient. If an abuse complaint should arise, how would PT staff handle this? Competencies within the department how are these handled? Do we take patients who have been referred from an out of state physician or physician assistant? Scribe Comments Noticed an ongoing concern about patient rights/responsibilities. Noticed that he was a stickler for progress tracking and goal achievement in patient charts. Listened to each assessment carefully and asked same questions in different wording to try and trip up staff in hopes for conflicting answers. He didnt get any though!
