Asked how chemotherapy was disposed of. Asked if soiled linen from Oncology was cleaned with other linens from other departments. Asked how long they kept the crash cart daily test records. Asked if Oncology kept separate charts/records from patients other medical record. Asked if patient privacy is respected and ensured in this area. Asked if patients are referred by primary care physician. Asked if Oncology department notices or is told by patient that they are having other problems not related to the care they are receiving, how do they handle this. Asked if a patient assessment is done on each patient. Asked if assessment includes things such as allergies, medications taken, brief medical history, etc. Asked about Advanced Directives. Asked if Psycho/Socio Assessments were needed and why. Asked about Educational Assessments. Asked how and who determines when treatment should end. Asked if patient goes into a Code Blue situation, what is the procedure. Asked when chart reviews are done for this area and who does them. Asked how many Oncology Physicians there were and how many were in the department at a time. Comments Asked to have a second signature from a Nurse of Physician on RNs annual evaluation. He asked this be done because XXX reports to YYY and he has no nursing/clinical background. If a nurse or physician can help give their input, recommendations, etc. and sign off on her evaluation it would be more fair and helpful. Asked YYY to find out how quarterly record reviews are done for this area. Stressed this needed to be done quarterly just the same as the other medical records. Scribes Comments Noticed that he was very interested in competencies and annual evaluations. Surveyor is a master at asking you something once, getting you on another subject, then a few minutes later asks the same question but reworded enough to try and through you off. Surveyor is also very good at playing you up and making you feel that he is trustworthy when all the while he is testing your skills and abilities. Especially noticed that he makes comments like "I am no expert on this topic" or "you would probably know better than I about this". He tries to make himself appear somewhat uneducated on clinical issues but really he is just testing your knowledge and abilities.
