Information Management Interview Questions

How was the assessment done on the Information Management needs for the organization?

When assessing needs, did you do this in-house or have an outside consultant come in?

What time frame was this assessment done?

Could this assessment have taken place in-house?

What types of needs were found?

Are physician notes automated here yet and is this part of the IM plan?

Where is the plan at now as far as progress, and where are we going in order to better things for everyone in the organization?

Can we improve with what we have or do we have to start all over from scratch?

Are ambulatory sites part of the plan to be tied into the network system for easier patient access when patients are brought in through the ED?

Where do you stand as far as moving towards electronic medical records?

Does everyone here have access to a computer terminal?

Are the clinical (inpatient and ambulatory) services information going to be automated within this plan?

If looking into a community wide system, how are patient confidentiality issues still going to be protected?

Will patient information from the physician offices be able to be accessed from Radiology, Laboratory, Oncology, or other department in which the patient is referred to from the physician office?

Y2K – tell me how medical equipment issues are being handled for the preparation of the Year 2000. Explain how everything is being prepared and precautions being taken to ensure we are ready.

Have vendors been contacted about their products being Y2K compliant?

What are the challenges we face with the employees and community and their education of computer technology?

Have you used outside resources in training efforts?

Is typing now a must for the most part to be gainfully employed in this healthcare system?

How do we handle medical information access in the Medical Library?

What monies are going into IM in the healthcare arena? Include Operating and Capital expenses?

Is it hard to put a $ figure on it at this point?

Do we periodically survey employee satisfaction with Library Services?

How often is this done?
